GERSHMAN

In the 1980s, Prof. Gershman led the design and implementation of the first production-quality automated Natural Language Processing system that handled international money transfer telexes for Citibank. He then joined Accenture in 1989 and created a lab that explored the use of multimedia for knowledge management and training. His professional career started in Natural Language processing at Yale University where he has received Computer Science Ph.D. in 1979. More recently, he realized that the vision of ubiquitous intelligent services will not be fulfilled without significant advances in Language Technologies. So at the end of 2006 he retired from his position as Global Director of Research and Chief Scientist at Accenture and joined the LTI faculty in April 2007.
LYTSYN

Professor Simon Litsyn is an expert in electronic devices, communication, data storage and processing systems. He received a Ph.D. in 1982 from LETI (Leningrad Electro-Technical Institute). Since 1991 he is a tenured professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering-Systems of Tel Aviv University (department head 2008- 2013). Author of 60 granted patents, more than 200 scientific publications, including two monographs published by Elsevier and Cambridge University Press. In 1999-2012 Litsyn was Chief Scientist of Sandisk (till 2006 M-systems) and drove the creation of the USB flash drive, the world’s most popular portable memory device. Consultant to more than 20 high-tech companies in the areas of communications, data storage and electronic devices design.
